Many thanks to all involved for making the 12th Annual Fredericksburg Fall Foliage Frolic a resounding success!!
For many volunteer organizations, one of the most difficult things is to get people to give their time. However, our Hill Country Bicycle Touring Club (HCBTC) does not have that problem. We are so fortunate to have so many caring folks who willing help with any function.
The Annual Frolic is just one of many great examples. Heartfelt thanks are due to all the people who contributed; as well as to several who standout. I will attempt to capture them, but admittedly my short-term memory is not what it used to be, so please forgive any inadvertent failure on my part:
The event coordinators did a fantastic job in getting everything planned properly. This was an enormous undertaking. Thank you Nolan, Ethel, Amanda and Maddie! You are our club’s inspiration!
The meal planners, food purchasers and meal preparers, as always, came as close to perfection as any of us could ever dream about. Thank you Isabel and Roland for your tremendous, unselfish giving, always!!
The day prior to the event was spent preparing for the big day by making sure the routes were visible and the registration site was in order. Thanks to Jim, Janet, Richard, Heidi, Frank, Vanessa, Maddie and Ethel for their hard work in making everything run so smoothly by preparing every detail of the ride so carefully for Saturday’s riders!
The day of the event was a very busy one for all volunteers, but a special “Thank You” is due to the Rest Stop, Ride Marshalls and SAG volunteers. Thanks to Mike, Cynthia, Jon, Fred, Ursula (and Grant), Heidi, Julio, Mike, Christy, Randy, Diana, and Laura for their diligence in supporting the riders, and especially to Mando, John and Amparo for doing this for two rest stops! And equally important were those helping at the registration and serving lines. Thanks to Fran, Amanda, Debbie, Karen, and others I didn’t get to see while I was away, for being there and giving riders a wonderful reception, both at the beginning and end of their ride!
Another thank-you has to go to all those who performed a myriad of other miscellaneous chores and who stayed to help with the clean-up, which is always difficult to do after already putting in a full day of work or riding.
And last, but not least, we owe Debbie Hayes our heartfelt thanks for her generosity and exceptional artistic talent in donating the most beautiful home-made quilt for raffle, as well as the same to Isabel and Roland for donating the eye-catching bicycle planter. Both were huge successes in earning additional revenue for our club – I know we all hoped we would win them!
The Annual Frolic is fun because of all the very special people who make it what it is and make difficult tasks seem simple through their caring and giving spirit. It’s an honor to serve with each of you, and I look forward to us all riding together in the coming year; and working together on other special events, community service days, and in contributing to leading rides.
Thank You, Thank You!
Roy
HCBTC President.
