  • Five Guys Ride

    Sunday, March 11th: Ride starts at 9:30.  Meet at Five Guys Burgers & Fries for a 31 mile ride with an optional 51 miles.  Park at the HEB across from Five Guys Burgers & Fries @ the corner of FM 78 & Foster Rd.  This ride features the rolling farmland east of Bexar County, with two or three gas station stops, one of them being the fresh hot pie place in New Berlin.   • Adopt-A-Highway-Community Service Day

    Saturday, February 25th: Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the entrance to Government Canyon State Natural Area on Galm Road.  Bring your family and friends for our litter pickup along two miles of Galm Road.  Remember to wear long pants, sturdy shoes and your yellow volunteer HCBTC T-shirt.  If you don’t have one, show up anyway & we’ll get one for you. Bring gloves, sun block & insect repellent. Safety vest’s, trash bags, coffee, water & a light refreshment will be provided to you  Our club decided several years ago that we would give back to the community by beautifying this popular route for cyclists and we are counting on your support.  NO RSVP required, just show up and join the fun.  For information contact Heidi Lynn at 210-842-2383.

  • Aransas National Wildlife Refuge Ride

    Saturday, January 14th: We will meet at 10:00 AM at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, which is home to many rare birds, including one of the rarest birds in North America; the whooping crane. We will meet in the parking lot in front of the visitor’s center for a16 mile ride on the paved road which circles the park.  Camping is available at Goose Island State Park and at the Riverside RV Park in Tivoli on the Guadalupe River (about 15 miles from the wildlife refuge).  There are also many motels in close-by Rockport and in other communities in the area.  See the main page of the website for more information or contact ride leader Randy Frazier at (210) 237-8740, email: papaastronomer@yahoo.com

  • Bear Moon Bakery Ride

    Saturday, February 4th : Ride to the Bear Moon Bakery from Leon Springs for a 39+ mile ride with 23 mile or 15 mile options.  For the 39 and 23 mile rides meet at the Leon Springs Park and Ride on Boerne Stage Rd.   Time for the 39 and 23 mile rides: :Wheels Down at 9:00am (arrive early enough to sign in).   Pace: 10-14 mph (slower on some hills; ) Description of 39+ ride: Ride from Leon Springs to the Bear Moon Bakery in Boerne via Cielo Vista, Babcock, Scenic Loop, Toutant Beauregard.  Return from the bakery via Amann Rd, Rolling Acres in Fair Oaks Ranch and the IH-10 Frontage Rd.  We’ll regroup periodically to account for everyone and the Ride Leader will ensure a more experienced rider will be the last rider to prevent newcomers from getting lost. Directions: Take the Boerne Stage Road exit off of IH 10 West, then turn left at the first light.  The Park and Ride is on the left behind the bank.  Map for the 39+ ride is given below; please view the link for a turn by turn description of the route and/or a printout:  http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5272507 Ann Caldwell will lead the 23 mile ride starting at 9:00 from the Park and Ride.  Bob Caldwell will lead the Beginners 15 mile ride starting at 9:30 from the Fair Oaks Village Shopping Center across from the Frost Bank (Exit IH 10 at Fair Oaks Parkway.) The shorter rides will be an out-and-back loop along Old Fredericksburg road, Cascade Caverns Rd., Old San Antonio Rd to Main Street on which the Bakery is located.   • Bear Moon Bakery Ride

    Saturday, March 17th: Meet at Leon Springs Park and Ride at 9:00 a.m. for a 31-mile ride with mostly gently rolling hills and a few more challenging hills on Amman Rd.  The ride will take us through Fair Oaks Ranch and then on to Amman Road towards Boerne.  We will stop at the Bear Moon Bakery on Main St. in Boerne.  (Note:  They ask you not to enter if your shoes have cleats that can scar their wooden floors.)   For those who wish to avoid the hills on Amman Road, but still want a good excuse to eat pastries at the bakery there is are two shorter options both with return with the longer route group:  a 23 mile ride from the Park and Ride and a 15 mile ride which will start at 9:30 from the Fair Oaks Village strip Mall on Fair Oaks Parkway across from Frost Bank.  Directions:  Take IH-10 West to Leon Springs/Boerne Stage Road exit (Exit 551).  Take a left onto the service road and turn left at the traffic light by Rudy’s BBQ.  The Park and Ride will be on your left.  For the 15 mile ride, exit IH 10 at Fair Oaks Parkway, turn right and then turn left into the shopping mall.

  • Blue Star Mission Espada Ride

    Saturday, December 31st: Meet at 9:00 at Blue Star Brewery off at Probant and South Alamo for a leisurely 18mile ride from the Blue Star Brewery over the newly opened trail along the San Antonio River and then on local streets to Mission Espada and back again to the Blue Star.  A longer route is available.  Beginners should consider this ride, going out as far as the end of the trail way and then then turning back for a 10 mile ride without traffic.   • Buddy Calk Trail Head Ride

    Sunday, December 18th : Ride starts at 9:00.   • Bullis Park Bear Moon Bakery Ride

    Saturday, January 7th: Sat 9:00 am wheels down: Ride to the Bear Moon Bakery from Bullis Park. Distance: 22 miles going and 29.9+ miles returning making a total ride of 51+ miles. This is a beautiful ride (mostly) on Amann road; the bakery is well known for its mouth-watering goods.  Terrain: Somewhat hilly.  Pace: slow: 10 mph average (including stops); ; Someone familiar with the route will stop at each turn and wait to make sure nobody gets lost.  In the event of rain, ride will be cancelled.   Be sure to print out a map at this link:http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4196005 Directions to Bullis County Park: Go approximately 8 miles north on Blanco Road (aka FM 2696) from loop 1604; Park is on the right hand side.   • Christmas in Comfort Ride

    Saturday, November 26th: Rides starts at 9:00 AM. Meet at Comfort Park, on Hwy 27 to your left as you are headed out of town. This is a 32 mile ride to Center Point and then on to Camp Verde where we will take a rest stop at the historic Camp Verde General Store & Post Office. Ride will be on rolling terrain at a 11 to 15 mph. pace. Ride leader or ride sweep will stop at turns to make sure no one is left behind.

    Directions: Take exit 524 off of IH-10 W ( the first Comfort exit) , and stay on Hwy 27 where it splits from Hwy 87 in the town of Comfort. The park will be on a complete city block bounded by 4th & 5th St and Broadway & Main Street, on the left side before you exit the town.

    After the ride stay to celebrate Christmas in Comfort. Festivities begin at 10am with over 150 arts & crafts booths, food, day-long entertainment. Visit Santa for photos. Bring the little ones in your family and visit the Petting Zoo. Enjoy the Show & Sale by Comfort Porcelain Club. Sponsored by Comfort Chamber of Commerce. Famous lighted night parade begins at 7pm.   • Cibolo Ride

    Saturday, February 18th: Ride starts at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Church’s parking lot (the gravel part in the back) adjacent to Harmon’s BBQ for a 30 or 20 mile group ride at an easy pace.  Ride will proceed southeast through rolling farm country to New Berlin, then northwest by Zuehl and Hackerville Road back into Cibolo.  The 20 mile ride will cut over at Gin road between Santa Clara and Zuehl.  See Map #506.  Directions: To get to St. Paul’s (108 S. Main) in Cibolo take IH35 north. Take exit 175 and turn right on Roy Richard Dr. (FM-3009 S).  Drive 3.2 miles and turn left onto Seguin Rd (FM 78).  Drive 1.4 miles and turn left onto W. TX-539 Loop.  Turn left on S.   • Exxon – Rio Medina Ride

    Saturday, February 11th: Ride starts at 9:00. Meet at the parking area next to the Exxon Station (15436 Culebra) on FM 471 outside Loop 1604 for an easy 16 mile ride to Rio Medina with a 32 mile longer ride from the Exxon Station to the Haby Bakery in Castroville.  The 16 mile ride is a great ride for beginners.  Directions: Take Culebra Road past 1604, where it becomes FM471, until you come to the Exxon station on your right.

  • Goliad Camp and Ride Weekend

    Saturday, November 12th / Sunday, November 13th:  Come join us for this traditional weekend of riding, socializing around a campfire, and sharing meals together.  Rides are scheduled for Saturday (25 miles, 33miles and 51 miles) and informal activities, including cycling, kayaking, hiking, and fishing, are optional for Sunday.  Saturday’s ride will start at 9:30 from the town square in Goliad.   Those wishing to camp or to stay in a park cabin at Goliad State Park should reserve facilities by calling (512) 389-8900 or by going online at www.tpwd.state.tx.us/reserve.  (The club will reimburse members for one night of camping.)  There are also motels and bed & breakfast establishments available in Goliad, but it is advisable to make reservations early because this is the weekend for market days around the town square and other festivities.  For more information contact Roy Munro at (210) 416-8485.

  • Good News Lutheran Church Sausage Supper Ride

    Saturday, March 3rd: Ride starts at 1:30 pm. Meet at Good News Lutheran Church at the corner of Old Corpus Christi Road and Hwy 181 South.  This is a 27 mile in SE Bexar County with mostly flat terrain at a medium pace.

    After the ride plan to stay for the sausage supper. Adults $8 / Children $4.

    If you’re not riding, come anyway and enjoy homemade sausage with all the trimmings served family style.  Food will be served from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  You may purchase advance tickets but it is not necessary.  For more information, contact ride leader Sandy Barsun at 210-913-8777.

  • Hardberger Park (West) Ride

  • Kelly Island Breakfast Ride

    Saturday, March 31st: Ride starts at 8:30 a.mMeet in the large parking lot located on the corner of General McMullen and Foulois St. in Port San Antonio. Join us for an easy ride on a flat course for 18 miles.  (A shorter option is available.) This ride is timed so that we will be able to enjoy a late breakfast at Kelly Island.  Directions:  Traveling east on Hwy 90, enter Port San Antonio via the 36th Street exit.  Go to Billy Mitchell, turn left, and take Billy Mitchell to General McMullen and turn right, go one block, then right onto Foulois St.  The parking lot is on left.  Traveling west on Hwy 90, exit General McMullen and go south, proceed through traffic lights until you pass Billy Mitchell.  Take the next right onto Foulois St. and turn left into parking lot.  For more information contact ride leader Amanda McCoy (210) 422-8039

  • LBJ 100 5th Annual Bicycle Tour

    Saturday, March 24th: HCBTC is a major supporter of this event.  No other rides will be scheduled on this day.  The LBJ will be at the LBJ National Park in Stonewall, Texas The Tour provides a 10 mile family ride, and 30, 42, 62, and the new 85  mile rides on scenic, traffic-free roads in the Texas Hill Country.  As an added feature, Luci Baines Johnson will lead a special 10 mile historic tour with narration at each of the historical landmarks on the LBJ Ranch.  Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and the rides begin in quick succession at 900 a.m. with the Luci tour of the ranch starting at 2:30.   • Leon Creek Greenway Ride

    Sunday, December 4th : Ride begins at 10:00 am.  Meet at the Ingram Park and Ride Trailhead.   Directions: Exit 410 at Ingram Road and head west.  The Park and Ride will be on your left.  Park in the lot located just before arriving at the trailhead.  This is a 23 mile out and back ride along a paved and most shaded trail way which ends at 1604 and I 10 near the Drury Inn Hotel.   A great ride for beginners, since you can turn back whenever you begin to feel tired and there is no traffic to contend with.  For more information contact ride leader Yvonne Campos (412-6790).

  • Lourdes Memorial Ride

  • New Berlin Ride


    Saturday, December 17th: Ride will start at 9:00 at Brietzke Station Cafe parking lot at the intersection of FM 2538/Trainer Hale Road and 775.  Directions: Take I-10 east towards Seguin; turn right at FM 2538/Trainer Hale Road; follow this road for 8 miles until you come to a T.   Brietzke restaurant parking lot is straight ahead. This is a 35 mile flat to gentle rolling hills ride.   Lunch will be at Brietzke’s after the ride. Hope you can join us for the morning ride and stay for lunch and those homemade pies.   • New Year’s Day Family Ride

    Sunday, January 1st: Join us for this Family Ride on the Leon Creek Green Way (3215 Northwestern Dr.). Wheels down at 10 a.m. Ring in the New Year with this great ride for people of any riding ability & age. For the experienced riders – clear your odometer to zero on January 1st – set your goal – how many miles will you ride this year? For the novice rider – it’s time to dust off the cobwebs off your spokes, lube the chain, dawn your helmet and meet us at the VIA Park & Ride at Ingram Park (free parking.) This ride takes you onto the beautiful Leon Creek Green Way paved trail, up to 24 miles round trip and less mileage for the beginners and those with the kiddie trailers. Directions: To get to Ingram Park and Ride from northwest; take 410 west, exit Ingram Rd., make a right on Ingram and then make an immediate left at the first red light. Park and Ride is on the right-hand side across from Joe’s Volcano. Coming from the Southwest take 410 east exit at Ingram Rd. make a left on Ingram, at the second red light opposite Ingram Mall make a left. Park and Ride is on the right hand side.   • Sammy’s 471 Ride from Castroville

    Saturday, January 21st: Ride starts at 9:00 a.m. from the Park and Ride lot across from Sammy’s Restaurant in Castroville. This is a mostly flat 33 mile ride from the Park ‘n Ride across from Sammy’s restaurant in Castroville to the Exxon station on FM 471 (Culebra) and back to Castroville, where we will have lunch at Sammy’s restaurant.  This is a nice ride for beginners, with safe wide bike lanes for most of the ride.  Stops will be at Rio Medina (a good place to turn around for those who want a shorter ride) and the Exxon station.  Directions: The Park and Ride is located at the intersection of Hwy 90 and FM 471 (Culebra Road).  For more information, contact ride leaders Ann Caldwell at 508-8878 and Bob Caldwell at 260-2584. )

    Sunday, February 19th : Wheels down at 9:00Meet at the Park and Ride across from Bill Miller’s at south loop 1604 and Hwy 16 South for a 30 mile ride over mostly flat terrain with some gentle hills. We will travel backroads between Somerset and Lytle and pass by an ostrich farm, where we hope to see Big Bird and his siblings. Several options for lunch: bar-b-q, Mexican, pizza.   • Toyota Applewhite Ride


    Sunday, January 22nd: Meet at 8:30 in the parking lot across from Bill Miller’s BBQ at the intersection of Hwy 16 South and 1604 for a 27 or 36 mile ride on the Southside near the Toyota plant on Applewhite road.  This ride is mostly flat with some rolling hills.  Directions:  From the north side of San Antonio take Hwy 35 south towards Laredo, exit Palo Alto Rod (Hwy 16), and proceed south past 410 until you reach 1604.  Turn left and the parking lot will be on your left.  From the west side, take 410 south, exit Hwy 16 South, and proceed south until you reach 1604 and turn left.  Lunch will be decided upon at the time of the ride.
